Santa Ana Valley’s Sanchez, Esperanza’s Jarbath Lead Team

Santa Ana Valley’s Steve Sanchez and Esperanza’s Phil Jarbath won two of the key matches to help the Blue defeat the Red, 41-23, in the Orange County all-star senior wrestling meet Friday at Esperanza High.
At 171 pounds, Sanchez defeated Grant Ensminger of Dana Hills, 12-8. The two were consistently ranked as the county’s top two wrestlers this season in the weight class.
Another county No. 1 vs. No. 2 match featured Jarbath against Jason Abajian of Troy. Jarbath won, 8-7.
El Modena’s Alex Solorio (heavyweight) and Foothill’s Ben Balmages (135) posted pins for the Blue.
