Representatives from the Naval Weapons Station last week signed an agreement setting guidelines for volunteer participation with neighboring McGaugh Elementary School. Through the Personal Excellence Partnership, Navy and Marine Corps volunteers will help the school in a variety of ways, including individual tutoring of at-risk students and involvement in the “Read Aloud” program, in which sailors, Marines and Navy civilians read stories to students. The volunteers also help out with athletic programs and schoolyard beautification.
