Already being investigated in an alleged theft scheme, wide receiver Laveranues Coles missed Florida State’s practice and will not play in the top-ranked Seminoles’ game Saturday against Miami.
Coles and Peter Warrick have been questioned, but not charged, by police in Tallahassee, Fla.
Coach Bobby Bowden said he will make a decision today on Coles’ future with the team.

Oregon State running back Ken Simonton, wearing a soft cast on his left hand after dislocating his thumb in last Saturday’s loss to USC, expects to play Saturday against Washington. . . . Alabama assistant football coach Jeff Rouzie and associated athletic director Mal Moore did not break any NCAA rules when they had some traffic tickets fixed between 1992 and this year, but receiver Shamari Buchanan is being investigated for a speeding ticket dismissed in April. NCAA rules prohibit players from receiving extra benefits. Rouzie and Moore do not fall into that category.
