The City Council on Tuesday authorized the firm of Forde and Mollrich to contact unregistered residents and occasional voters in an effort to increase voter turnout for the March election.
Forde and Mollrich will contact unregistered residents by mail twice before the spring election. The first mailer will advise residents that they are not registered to vote and the second will contain registration material.
Following the mailing, the firm will call the residents urging them to return the registration material.
The city is hopeful the firm can also motivate the occasional voter to participate by contacting residents with spotty voting records through a series of three direct mailers and a follow-up phone call.
