SALT LAKE CITY — A camel used for years as an attraction at a local restaurant brutally bit and stomped one of the restaurant owners and a friend Wednesday.
Restaurant official Sammy Parker said the camel named “Stinker” suddenly attacked co-owner Steven Runolfson just as he was showing the camel to a friend.
Both Runolfson and his friend, who was not named, were hurt in the attack and taken to a local hospital.
Runolfson had multiple rib fractures and bites. Both men were expected to recover, Parker said.
The restaurant, La Caille, is located in Sandy, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City. The camel had been at the restaurant for six to seven years and was a favorite among visiting children and families.
