Grant High unleashed a full-court press that produced eight turnovers in a five-minute span of the fourth quarter and produced a 58-48 victory over North Hollywood on Wednesday at Grant.
Senior guard Ryan Logan scored 11 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter and was the key player during a 15-4 for Grant (5-15, 5-0 in league play). The win extended the Lancers’ lead in the Sunset Six League to two games.
Logan and backcourt mate DeWayne Anderson were held out of the first quarter after arriving late for the junior varsity game. North Hollywood (15-5, 3-2) took advantage, opening a 15-8 lead.
When they returned and helped increase the defensive pressure, the Huskies were in trouble.
“Ryan has a tendency to take it to another level and when he shoots with that kind of arch, he can be red-hot,” Coach Howard Levine said. “He was tremendous in the second half offensively and defensively.”
Logan made five three-pointers.
“Every time the basketball left my hand, it felt like it was going in,” Logan said.
Kenny Hauser scored 15 points for North Hollywood.
