Dixie School District Refuses Name Change

The Dixie School District Board of Trustees has refused to change the district’s name, but said it would look into the possibility of coming up with a new name at a later date.
The action came Tuesday night in a vote to deny a petition asking that the district adopt the name Miller Creek Elementary School District.
The petition did not provide a reason for seeking the change, although some of the supporters of the change said they opposed the appearance of the current name’s historical link to slavery.
