Seawall Would Speed Erosion, Report Says
An environmental review indicates that a seawall at the Ocean Harbor House condominiums would speed beach erosion and harm the visual character of the coastline.
The Monterey Planning Commission took feedback on the review at its meeting Tuesday.
The draft review said erosion and visual problems could not be avoided, although other concerns about geology, water quality, biological resources, land use, noise and construction traffic could be addressed.
Ocean Harbor House’s owners want to build a reinforced concrete wall under part of the 172-unit complex, because it sits on a sand bluff that tides and storms are eroding.
