Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott’s “Work It” received the most nominations for the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, announced Thursday. Justin Timberlake followed with seven nods -- five for “Cry Me a River” and two for “Rock Your Body.” And, in a surprising turn, veteran Johnny Cash won six nominations for his video “Hurt.”
The nominations were determined by about 5,000 viewers, music journalists, video producers and record industry executives. The show will air live from New York City’s Radio City Music Hall at 8 p.m. on Aug. 28.
