Padres Drop Plans to Cut Size of Public Park

The San Diego Padres said they would drop plans to shrink a public park at the city’s new downtown baseball stadium.
In exchange, the city will return the Padres the $3.5 million that the team paid to reduce the 2.7-acre space, plus $500,000 in interest and other costs. Entry to the Park at the Park, which offers a view of the action on the field, will be free to the public on nongame days, officials said.
