At least one more year for ‘NYPD Blue’

“NYPD Blue” was renewed Monday for what ABC said will be its 12th and final season. Executive producer and co-creator Steven Bochco agreed but left open the possibility that the police drama might survive to collar a few more “perps.”
“We are all in agreement that the 12th season should be thought of as our final season and creatively energize ourselves towards that end,” Bochco said in a statement released by the network. “Should we do brilliantly, and circumstances change, we would be delighted to revisit the possibility of life beyond 12 seasons.”
“NYPD Blue,” which stars Dennis Franz as Det. Andy Sipowicz, has won 20 Emmy Awards since premiering in September 1993.
