“Wicked” will wing its way into Los Angeles in June as part of the Broadway/L.A. season.
The touring version of the Broadway hit about the formative years of the Wizard of Oz witches will play the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, June 17 through July 17.
Stephanie J. Block is expected to play Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch, while Kendra Kassebaum is slated for the role of Glinda.
David Garrison and Carol Kane will also take roles in the tour of the Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman musical, which was adapted from Gregory Maguire’s novel. Joe Mantello is repeating his Broadway staging of the show for the tour.
The rest of the Broadway/L.A. season will include the Leslie Bricusse musical “Doctor Dolittle” in January 2006, along with revivals of “Annie” (October 2005, with a new song by composer/director Martin Charnin), “Bye Bye Birdie” (May 2006) and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” (June 2006). All will be at the Pantages.
