Philip Borst, 78; Longtime President of Fullerton College

Philip Borst, 78, a former longtime president of Fullerton College, died of cancer May 21 at his home in Hemet.
Borst, who was hired in 1956 as a political science instructor and later held various administrative positions at the college, was named president in 1977. After retiring from the office in 1994, he remained on the Fullerton College Foundation board.
The Fullerton native, whose father taught English at the college, earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science from Stanford University. He later received a doctorate in political science from what is now Claremont Graduate University.
