The Kobe Show
Kobe Bryant is a spectacular player who will win the NBA scoring title for the second year in a row. Shaquille O’Neal is no longer spectacular and has mediocre statistics this year. But while Kobe’s Lakers are fighting for the sixth, seventh or eighth playoff seeding, Shaq’s Heat is fighting for third place, despite the injury to Dwyane Wade.
So, if T.J. Simers is interested only in entertainment value and not who wins the game, maybe he and Kobe Bryant should check out the Harlem Globetrotters.

This is what I wrote you after Kobe’s 53 against the Rockets:
“With thanks to Yogi, it’s deja vu all over again. Look at the box score: Kobe Bryant, 53 points, 2 rebounds; 2 assists. Look at the result: Lakers lose.”
Now I write after the next Lakers game: Kobe takes just 14 shots (for 19 points) and has 13 assists. Six Lakers score in double figures, all 11 Lakers score and the Lakers win a blowout.
The “offense” rests. It’s about time.
