Re “Obama defined by contrasts,” March 24
The Times portrays Sen. Barack Obama as experiencing a lifetime of striking contrasts, moving him to the moderate center. The moderate center is not where Obama resides; rather, his political and philosophical home would be better described as belonging on the far left. Consider these questions: Does Obama believe in the redistribution of wealth and property? Does Obama believe in legislative action to correct the human condition? And perhaps most telling, can Obama be called a “neotrist,” or someone in love with change for its own sake?
The answer to each of these questions is a resounding yes. A lifetime of contrasts or not, Obama emerges as a figure not hardly in the middle, but an extremist wearing the emperor’s new clothes.

The picture captioned “Richardson’s pick” features what could be the team of the times. Anyone else smiling?

I have three words for those Obama supporters who wouldn’t vote for Sen. Hillary Clinton and those Clinton supporters who wouldn’t vote for Obama: Supreme Court appointments.
