3.1 quake rattles the Southland

A magnitude 3.1 earthquake was recorded near Newport Beach on Thursday evening. The temblor struck at 9:28 p.m. at an underground depth of 4.7 miles.
The earthquake’s force was recorded as far away as the Los Angeles Civic Center, 36 miles away.
