UC Santa Barbara upends Loyola Marymount

UC Santa Barbara 89, at Loyola Marymount 84: James Powell made five of seven three-point shots and finished with 21 points for the Gauchos (4-0), who made 10 for 16 from beyond the arc in beating the Lions (2-5). Santa Barbara, which also got 16 points apiece from Orlando Johnson and James Nunnally, shot 56% from the field overall. Drew Viney scored 25 points to lead Loyola.
Pepperdine 82, Monmouth 73: Keion Bell scored a career high 34 points, with 24 in the second half, to lead the Waves (3-3) over the Hawks (2-4) in the World Vision Basketball Challenge at Laramie, Wyo. Dane Suttle Jr. scored 16 points for Pepperdine.
UC Riverside 59, at Sacramento State 58: Larry Gurganious had eight points, 10 rebounds and made the game-winning shot at the buzzer to help the Highlanders (3-2) edge the Hornets (3-4).
at Arkansas Little Rock 71, Cal Poly SLO 62: Solomon Bozeman scored a season-high 22 points to lead the Trojans (2-4) over the Mustangs (0-5). Lorenzo Keeler scored 20 for Cal Poly.
WOMEN
USC 64, No. 19 Mississippi State 60: Aarika Hughes scored 14 points to lead the Trojans (3-3) over the Bulldogs (4-3) for their second straight win over a ranked team in the Paradise Jam tournament at St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
at No. 6 Tennessee 61, UCLA 47: After a slow start by the Lady Vols, Taber Spani scored 16 points and helped Tennessee (5-0) hang on against the Bruins (4-2). Markel Walker led UCLA with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
