A woman who was seven months’ pregnant was forced to deliver her baby after she was shot multiple times Tuesday in South El Monte, authorities said.
The baby was listed in fair condition, authorities said, but the woman’s condition was not immediately known.
The unidentified woman was in the driveway of a home in the 1900 block of Merced Avenue when someone approached her and shot her multiple times at 10:06 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The suspect fled from the scene in a dark sedan.
The woman was rushed to an area hospital, where authorities said she successfully delivered her baby.
Police were still investigating the shooting early Wednesday and had no additional details.
