NEW SERVICES

St. Matthew’s Church will begin a new fall lineup of worship services

starting Sunday at 330 W. Bay St., Suite 120, Costa Mesa. A family

service with liturgy of the word will be held at 9 a.m. A Holy Eucharist

will be held at 11 a.m. And the first Sunday of each month will be Pantry

Sunday, which is presented with Friends in Service to Humanity. People

will be asked to bring donations of nonperishable foods, diapers and

A REDEDICATED SABBATH

Sabbath services that were to be held to show solidarity with Israel

have been rededicated to show support for victims of the Tuesday attacks

on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. A service will be held 10

CHABAD JEWISH CENTER

Chabad Jewish Center of Newport Beach will hold Rosh Hashana services

at 10 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Yom Kippur services will be held at

6:30 p.m. Sept. 26 and 10 a.m. Sept. 27. A Yizkor Memorial service will

follow the Sept. 27 service at 12:15 p.m. A Neila closing service will be

HIGH HOLY DAYS

Temple Isaiah will begin its High Holy Days services at 8 p.m. Monday

with a service and performances by a new vocal group. Two traditional

morning services will follow at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and an evening service

will be held the same day at 7:30 p.m. On Wednesday, service will be held

at 9:30 a.m., and the Holy Kol Nidre service will begin at 7 p.m. Sept.

26. An all-day Yom Kippur service will be held from 9:30 a.m. until

BAT YAHM SERVICES

Temple Bat Yahm will hold Rosh Hashana services at 8 p.m. Monday, with

a 10 p.m. reception following. Tuesday will bring a 9 a.m. community

service event, a main service at 10:45 a.m. and a Tashlich Service at

North Star Beach at 1:30 p.m. A Kol Nidre service will be held at 8 p.m.

Sept. 26. Yom Kippur will be celebrated from 9 a.m. through 7:45 p.m.

with different services and events Sept. 27. A congregational picnic in

the Sukkah will begin at 1 p.m. Oct. 7, and High Holy Days will conclude

Oct. 10 with a 7 p.m. performance of the Ellis Island Klezmar Band and a

PEACE WALK

Local community and faith-based organizations will gather Sept. 22 for

the eighth annual Orange County Peace Walk/Peace Jam 2001 at Triangle

Square. The free event will start at 11:30 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. There

will be musicians, an organized walk on the streets around Triangle

Square, displays, raffles and more in celebration of the United Nations’

A “lectio divina” meditation group meeting will be held at 7:10 a.m.
