State lawmakers gave final approval Thursday to new maps for Assembly,
state Senate and congressional districts.
Under the plan, Costa Mesa would change assemblymen from John Campbell
(R-Irvine) to Ken Maddox (R-Garden Grove).
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Huntington Beach) would also see some
changes, losing a small chunk of Newport Beach to Rep. Christopher Cox
(R-Newport Beach).
In the Senate, both cities would continue to be represented by Ross
Johnson (R-Irvine).
Maddox, a fairly conservative Republican, has said he is enthusiastic
about the prospect of representing Costa Mesa. Gov. Gray Davis must sign
off on the plans by Sept. 26.
