Community college women’s water polo: Pirates remain undefeated

The Orange Coast College women’s water polo team, the No. 1 squad
in the state, remained undefeated with a 14-5 Orange Empire Conference
victory at Saddleback Wednesday in Mission Viejo.
The Pirates (6-0, 2-0 in the OEC) raced to a 6-1 lead in the first
period and never looked back. OCC freshman Erica Nicholson led with three
goals, while sophomores Kristina Miloslavic and Katie Logan and freshman
Nichole Sonnenfeld tallied two scores each. Pirates Neisha Hoagland,
Devon Wright, Courtney Brown, Erica Anderson and Tia Montalvo added one
goal each, sending the Gauchos to 2-4, 0-2.
OCC freshman goalie Casey Finnegan stopped six shots, while Heather
Deyden, a Newport Harbor High product, recorded four saves.
The Pirates return to action in the Diablo Valley Tournament, played
Saturday and Sunday.
