Everything you always wanted to know about planting bulbs for spring
and fall planting will be taught today at 9 a.m. at Roger’s Gardens.
During the seminar, Cristin Fusano will talk about the importance of soil
preparation and October planting. Fusano will reveal secrets on how to
plant spring bulbs with annuals and perennials for a beautiful
winter/spring garden. September’s special is on color six-packs at 25%

Bloomingdale’s is in the midst of a “hot fall trends promotion”
through Sept. 23. As part of the event there will be a reading and
book-signing by author David Saltzman at 11 a.m. Barbara Saltzman and her
jester will read “The Jester Has Lost His Jingle.” Other promotions in
the store will be a viewing of the latest Swarovski archive pins, and new
collections of silk scarves by Angela Coppola will be available. The
scarves have the world’s most recognized stained glass windows and

Nikki Twigs has added a lot of new merchandise to its new location at
660 W. 17th St., Quonset hut 23 in Costa Mesa. The latest merchandise
includes a fall line of baskets and pottery along with two lines of
jewelry from Nancy Jackson. Lynn Ash, from Haute Rocks designs, has
semiprecious stone jewelry, pearls and turquoise, and Nancy Deline has

The swap meet will be gearing up for the holidays soon, and in the
meantime there are more than 1,000 vendors every Saturday and Sunday.
There are produce and flower markets, a manufacturers’ outlet center,
entertainment, snack bars and food carts and the Automotive Road of Dream
Museum that shows classic, antique, celebrity and rare cars in a
Hollywood-style setting. The swap meet runs from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. every
Saturday and Sunday. Admission to the swap meet is $2 and kids 12 under
are free. Parking is free.
Macy’s is having a sales event today at its South Coast Plaza and
Fashion Island stores. If you purchase a $10 “Do More” card that goes
toward HIV/AIDS research, you’ll get 20% off on accessories for men,
women and kids; 15% off on bed and bath, tabletop, housewares, frames and
luggage; 10% off on furniture, mattresses and floor coverings, fine
jewelry and estate jewelry. The exclusions are on cosmetics, Louis
Vuitton, Lladro and St. John. The card can also be used today at Virgin
