WEATHER FORECAST
Forget all that fall mumbo jumbo. It’s still summer, even if the
calendar says otherwise.
And if all works out today, it’ll be similar to Tuesday as the sun
scorches the area, bringing highs in the low 80s to Costa Mesa and in the
mid- to high 70s to Newport Beach.
Watch out as it’s supposed to be hotter Thursday. Hit the beach, where
the water hovers in the mid- to high 60s.

BOATING FORECAST
Morning fog and light winds will dominate the harbor early. The
westerly winds will pick up to 10 to 15 knots by afternoon, bringing with
them 2-foot waves and a southwest swell of 3 feet. By night, the winds
will again lighten up and fog will return.
A small craft advisory has been issued for the waters out farther as
the northwesterly winds blow 15 to 20 knots early and increase to 25
knots in the afternoon. Waves of 2 feet will build to 4 feet while a
northwest swell becomes 8 feet. By night, the strong winds will continue
to prevail and will slightly ease up overnight to 20 knots with a mixed
northwest and south swell of 10 feet.
SURF
The waves will drop off for a day, that day being today. Expect low
surf in the form of waist- to chest-highs and the occasional 4-footer.
Conditions will pick up again Thursday as a new southwest swell rolls in.
Some head-highs may be seen Friday.
