The Lightning Bolts rallied for a 7-3 victory over the Funky
Monkeys Saturday in an AYSO Region 57 girls under 10 soccer game.
Claire Eadington led the Lightning Bolts with four goals and an
assist. The Lightning Bolts were down 2-0 when Michelle Brescia ignited
the team with two goals. Eadington had an assist and Sophia Iovenitti
stood tall in goal.
Kristen Couzens, Annika Gerken, Casey Goldberg and Duran Sharp limited
the Funky Monkeys’ offense. Stacy Sanderson capped the scoring for the
Lightning Bolts with her first goal of the season.
Kate Berry and Leila Pozin (two goals) scored for the Funky Monkeys.
In boys Division 3:
Spitfires 5, Blue Ice 1 - The Spitfires extended their winning streak
with three goals from Andrew Dialynas. He scored his first goal on a
breakaway and the second on a cross pass from Philip Bannan. His third
goal was scored from 20 yards out off a back pass from Scott Feeley. Jack
Tyson and Shlan Jalali added two goals to secure the victory. The
Spitfires received solid defense from Russell Mycorn, Grant Heffernan,
Alex Neff, Casey Adamczyk, Jeffrey Livingston and Trevor Swinney.
In girls Division 4:
Strikers 4, Patriots 1 - The Strikers put the pressure on the Patriots
with goals from Chloe Rome, Alexa Rome, Alisha Agrellas and Sarah Wesley.
Rene Mycorn had an assist. Jacklyn Lieberman, Caitlin Roberts, Blake
Gardner, Corinne Treadaway, Julie Hassman, Leah Greenbaum, Madelyne Todd
and Morga Wiener were tough on defense.
In boys Division 5:
* Mako Sharks 8, Titanium Turtles 1 - Chris Freeman scored four goals,
Nick Taormina had two and Sebastien Welch had one to lead the Mako
Sharks’ attack on the Turtles Saturday. David Fenner, Saahm Aresh,
Chandler Mitchell, Cameron Koppel, Taylor Battram and Ian Massoth were
strong on defense.
* Mutants 4, Rockies 1 - The Mutants remain undefeated with their
victory over the Rockies. Connor Gaal chipped in with four goals. Jeremy
Bowinkel and Keyan Jalali had assists. Jaime McKerman, Patrick Pearson,
Kevin Dales, Brandon Rus, Matt Wilkirson, Tony McCoy and Max Callas led
the Mutants’ defense.
In boys division 6:
* The Blue Rapids played their second game of the season against the
Panthers. Jack Gorab led offense with two goals. Josh Giger, Nick
Molinaro and Hutton McKenna also scored goals. Gianni Multari, Matt
Larson and Daniel Hohl provided defensive support. Team captain Zach
Murtaugh was injured and sidelined for the second half.
* The Green Machine took on the Yellow Lightning in a tough game.
Brent Lawson scored for the Green Machine. C.J. Nugent, Blake Grable and
Davis Case contributed on defense. Cort Hastings and Brian Mull kept the
pressure on down on the offensive end and Pete Rijas and Garrett Brewer
also contributed. The Green Machine missed the agressive play of Ryan
Griffin, who is out for the season with a broken leg.
The Yellow Lightning’s Hunter Molnar, Demitrios Ingram and Connor
Lazar led the offensive unit. Jedd Thayer, Grant Hodgkins and Michael bui
dominated the midfield. Cole Kirby, Brooks Westervelts and goalkeeper
Michael Doering helped on defense.
* The Rockets exploded offensively against the Golden Panthers with
goals from Jack McBean, Joe and Erik Ctvrtlik, Andrew McCormack, Josh
Schwartz and Hunter Heckendorn. Kevin Hoffman and Ben Paul anchored the
defense.
* In girls Division 6, the Alligators’ Katie Donahue and Karissa
Reinach scored goals against the Dazzling Dophins. Brooke Donahue had an
assist. Caitlin Hutt, Catherine Patel and Kristina Sparling also made
good offensive plays. The defense was anchored by Sally Evans, Kelsey
Christensen and Kati Wechsler.
In girls under 10:
* California Surfer Girls 3, Blue Bullets 2 - Brooke de Miranda had
two goals and Katie de Miranda had one to lead the California Surfer
Girls to a victory. Monica Schnapp, Hayley Votolato, Claire Ham, Natalie
Rempalski and Mollie Silvernail also played well. Megan Wurzelbacher,
Tess Crane and Nassim Eghtebas were also solid on the field.
* In girls under 7, the Blue Dophins took on the Blue Dophins at
Harbor View. The Blue Dolphins were led by Kristina Brown, who scored
four goals. Grace Kennedy scored one and Lauren Fox and Emelie Frojen
were strong on defense. Sara Machoskie, Maddie Hayward and Olivia Dajee
also contributed on defense.
