Girls volleyball: Costa Mesa drops one, wins one

COSTA MESA - The Costa Mesa High girls volleyball team, playing two
games in two days, dropped a three-game nonleague loss to Tustin
Thursday, but earned a four-game victory over Saddleback Wednesday.
Against Tustin (4-1), Mesa (1-4) lost 15-10, 15-9, 15-9, as junior
Sharon Day led the Mustangs with nine kills, while Jackie Greaney slammed
five kills. Freshman Jenny Sparks dished out 19 assists.
Day sparked Mesa with 14 kills in the 15-13, 15-8, 14-16, 15-12
nonleague victory over visiting Saddleback Wednesday.
The Mustangs will open Pacific Coast League play at Northwood Tuesday
at 3:15 p.m.
