UCI’s Garcia, Do honored

Junior Phil Garcia and sophomore Kim Do of the UC Irvine swimming

and diving program were each named the Big West Athlete of the Week

for their performances at the UCI/Daktronics Invitationals.

Garcia won the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 free for the Anteaters as the UCI men’s team won two of the three meets and

finished second in the other. Do helped lead the UCI women to strong

finishes in each of the three meets. She placed in the top 15 in the

200 individual medley, the 400 IM and the 1,650 free.

The Anteaters will host the Fresno State women’s team and the UC

San Diego men’s team Saturday at noon.
