JAN. 2
* Broadway: Police responded to a call in reference to a man
scaring customers in the 200 block at 4:22 p.m. They arrested a
60-year-old Santa Ana man for public intoxication.
* Summit Drive: An officer was called to a home in the 900 block
at 6:45 p.m. to contact a suspected hit-and-run driver. The witness
who reportedly saw the driver hit a parked car followed the suspect
home and then called police. The officer arrested a 47-year-old
Laguna Beach woman on suspicion of driving under the influence and of
hit-and-run. She was booked and then released on her own
recognizance.
* Forest Avenue/Glenneyre Street: A witness of a hit-and-run
called police from the intersection at 11:09 p.m. The witness saw a
driver back into a parked car in the 100 block of Mountain Road and
followed the suspect Downtown. Police arrested a 46-year-old Irvine
man on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving under the influence. The
suspect was booked and then released on his own recognizance.
FRIDAY
* Legion Street: Officers arrested a 23-year-old Laguna Beach man
on suspicion of driving a vehicle with the owner’s consent in the 500
block at 10:53 a.m.
* Ramona Street: Officers were called to a fight in progress in
the 2000 block at 8:18 p.m. After officers separated the two male
combatants, they arrested a 24-year-old Dana Point man on suspicion
of possessing a controlled substance and resisting an officer. He was
transported to Orange County Jail.
SATURDAY
* Alta Laguna Park: Firefighters and police were called to a
medical aid in reference to a victim with a compound fracture to the
arm at 3:09 p.m.
* Broadway: A citizen flagged down an officer after allegedly
witnessing three men dressed as nuns bouncing on a trampoline in the
200 block at 9:31 p.m.
* Ocean Avenue: Police arrested a 60-year-old Laguna Beach man
for public intoxication.
* North Coast Highway/Forest Avenue: A driver called police after
witnessing a car of teenagers perform a drive-by water ballooning
near the intersection at 10:31 p.m. Two pedestrians were hit but not
injured. The suspects fled the scene.
SUNDAY
* Broadway/Cliff Drive: Officers responded to a traffic collision
at the intersection at 12:46 p.m. A driver backed into a car, causing
minor damage.
* Tree Top Lane: A resident reported that the school gates were
open and a vehicle had driven on the athletic field in the 21000
block at 1:15 p.m. Officers found minor damage.
* Broadway: Store personnel called police after witnessing a man
run out with food items stuffed in his shirt in the 200 block at 1:26
p.m. Officers found and arrested a 24-year-old on suspicion of petty
theft. When they booked the suspect, they learned his true identity
and discovered that he had a felony warrant out of Orange County
Central Court for possession of narcotics. He was transported to
Orange County Jail.
* Lower Cliff Drive: Animal service officers responded to a call
about a pet parrot that flew into a neighbor’s tree in the 200 block
at 1:49 p.m.
* North Coast Highway: A 47-year-old man was arrested on
suspicion of driving under the influence and on multiple warrants for
two previous DUI charges and for willfully inflicting corporal injury
on a spouse. He was transported to Orange County Jail.
* San Joaquin Street: A resident reported arcing wires behind the
home in the 200 block at 10:18 p.m. A large tree branch hit the
wires.
* North Coast Highway/Myrtle Street: A fallen tree was reported
in No. 2 lane near the intersection at 10:20 p.m.
* South Coast Highway: Officers were called after a passerby
discovered women’s shoes and pants outside a motel room in the 1600
block at 11:51 p.m. Officers discovered a nude woman trying to get
back into her room. She had allegedly gotten into a fight with her
boyfriend, and he had kicked her out. After talking with officers,
the boyfriend allowed her back into the room.
MONDAY
* North Coast Highway: Officers responded to a call about a woman
acting funny in a parking garage in the 1000 block at 7:20 p.m. After
talking to her and assessing her condition, officers arrested the
46-year-old Laguna Beach woman on suspicion of possession of
prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia. When they were
transporting her to Orange County Jail, she stopped breathing and had
to be taken to the hospital.
* South Coast Highway: A restaurant manager walked into the work
and discovered that someone had opened the safe and stolen about
$5,000 in cash in the 100 block at 6:04 a.m. The case is under
investigation.
* Glenneyre Street: A resident reported that a large eucalyptus
tree fell in the road in the 1300 block at 7:32 a.m.
* Laguna Canyon Road/Phillips Street: A two-car traffic collision
was reported near the intersection at 8:50 a.m.
* South Coast Highway: Officers were called to investigate an
alleged rape in the 31000 block at 9:08 a.m. After the victim was
mentally evaluated and interviewed, they discovered that the claim
was unfounded.
* Bonn Drive: A fallen tree that crossed the whole road was
reported in the 3100 block at 10:48 a.m.
* Forest Avenue: A large tree branch was reported to have fallen
on a vehicle in the 500 block at 11:07 a.m.
* Table Rock Beach: A resident reported seeing a large dark
object in the water at 11:46 a.m. Newport Harbor Patrol investigated
and reported that it was just a trash can.
* Temple Terrace: A female resident reported that an unknown male
driver approached her Saturday night and repeatedly asked if she
wanted a ride in the 900 block at 2:01 p.m. She reported the incident
after talking about it with her friend.
* Broadway: Officers responded to call about a man harassing
people in the 300 block at 5:25 p.m. Witnesses claimed that the man
was drinking an alcoholic beverage and that, when he finished, he
threw the bottle over the heads of people waiting for the bus. The
47-year-old San Clemente man was arrested on suspicion of public
intoxication.
TUESDAY
* Bluebird Canyon Drive: Firefighters and police received a call
about a tree on fire in the front of a residence in the 1300 block at
5:01 a.m. Almost the entire neighborhood was without power as a
result of a the fire.
* Cajon Street/North Coast Highway: A four-car traffic collision
was reported near the intersection at 8:47 a.m. No injuries were
reported.
* Broadway: A man kicking and hitting a news rack was reported in
the 200 block at 10:06 a.m.
* Nyes Place: A hazardous condition was reported in the 500 block
at 7:12 a.m. Drivers reported that a waste management truck was
losing fluid, which was causing cars to lose traction.
* Nyes Place: A fallen tree was reported in the 500 block at
11:04 a.m.
* South Coast Highway/Upland Road: A traffic collision was
reported near the intersection. One of the cars rolled over, but no
one was hurt.
* North Coast Highway: Police and firefighters received a report
that a forklift ran over a customer’s foot in the 600 block at 10
p.m.
