Rodman’s brushes
with the law:
Aug. 21, 1999: Arrested on suspicion of being drunk and creating a
disturbance at Woody’s Wharf. He allegedly got drunk and started
intentionally and repeatedly pounding his head into the bar’s
ceiling. Police said he refused to leave when asked. He was arrested
and released. No charges were filed.
Nov. 6, 1999: Arrested along with ex-wife Carmen Electra at an
upscale Miami Beach hotel after the two were involved in a physical
fight. Electra reportedly had a cut on her lip and Rodman had
scratches on his chest. Charges were dropped against both.
Dec. 22, 1999: Arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol
after leaving The Clubhouse restaurant in Costa Mesa. A blood test
revealed his blood alcohol level was .15, almost twice the legal
limit. Pleaded guilty to the charge and got three years’ informal
probation.
May 31, 2001: The Orange County district attorney filed three
criminal misdemeanor charges against Rodman for violating the city’s
noise ordinance after he blasted music on the public beach on the eve
of his 40th birthday. He pleaded guilty on all three counts and paid
the requisite fines.
Aug. 4, 2001: Got a ticket from Harbor Patrol for going too fast
on his speedboat in Newport Harbor. Paid a fine.
Aug. 29, 2001: Walked into Hooters restaurant on Newport Boulevard
with a fire extinguisher and randomly hosed off a patron. Was
investigated by the police and the Orange County Health Care Agency
for inappropriate use of a fire extinguisher. No charges were filed.
Jan. 5, 2002: Arrested at Josh Slocum’s restaurant for allegedly
obstructing a police investigation. Officers were looking into
whether Rodman’s Mariner’s Mile restaurant was serving alcohol after
2 a.m., which is illegal. He posted a $500 bail.
