Waiting for the answer

We met last summer amid pepper-spray induced tears, sweat and hard
work. We both were working for a common goal, to become Explorers.
She wanted to be a Sheriff’s Explorer, and I wanted to be a Police
Explorer. To do this, we had to attend a weeklong intensive boot camp
of sorts, the Police Explorer Academy. We found out that we had so
much in common: dedication, perseverance and the desire to complete
this difficult worthwhile experience.
We met and struck up a conversation on the last night at the
academy. We found that the more we talked, the more we felt like we
were talking to a long lost friend. We really like each other. At the
end of that week, we graduated from the academy, finishing in the top
15%. We exchanged information, and over the next couple days
communicated on the Internet and phone. We’ve dated since and enjoy
each other’s company very much. This being her senior year, and
having not been asked to a dance in a unique way, I want to change
that.
So this being your senior year, Melissa, I wanted to know if you
would go with me to Winter Formal?
Love,
David
