An extreme form of marketing

Why did he wait so long? What was he thinking? How could he do
this to me, to Newport Beach, to all his faithful fans and supporters
not only here in Newport Beach but all over the world? But alas, all
good things come to those who wait. Patience is a virtue!
Yes! Newport Beach’s outstanding citizen of the year, the role
model for our youth, Mr. Dennis Rodman is back. I know there are many
people like myself who have waited anxiously and with bated breath
for the reemergence of our tattooed and pierced model of civility and
culture to once again hit the front page of the Daily Pilot, even if
it was for allegedly hitting and assaulting yet another woman. Yes,
my hero, Mr. Dennis Rodman is back.
After you read about Rodman’s known brushes with the law, you have
to realize that what we have here is a person, unlike you or me, who
gets let off lightly from his legal and moral responsibilities
because he A. has money, B. is a celebrity, or C. a combination of
the above.
Personally, I don’t get his getting off lightly for any of the
above reasons. Do you? But I have to hand it to Rodman, if for no
other reason, he is a good marketer. Really. What better way to
publicize the reopening of a restaurant you’re affiliated with than
get some publicity the day before the reopening.
That will bring in the type of people that we so dearly need, want
and cherish here in Newport Beach. A quality establishment. Judging
by the traffic and attendance Saturday night at Josh Slocum’s,
Roman’s marketing strategy was highly successful.
Kudos to our famous resident for his successful marketing
strategies for him and his restaurant. And thank you for once again
entertaining us with you fun and inspiring antics.
