Lions’ women roar

Vanguard University’s women’s basketball team, ranked No. 19 in
the NAIA, enhanced its reputation with a 64-47 Golden State Athletic
Conference victory over visiting Christian Heritage Tuesday night at
The Pit.
Robbin Dittenbir, the school’s Lion of the Week, notched her sixth
double-double of the season with a team-high 17 points and 10 rebounds, and had seven assists. Paulette Seaman chipped in with 14
points and Jennifer Wilcox scored 10 points for the Lions, 14-7, 9-1
in the GSAC.
Leading by only three points with 3:23 left in the half, Seaman
sank her first of four three-pointers, and by halftime the spread was
37-27.
The Lions opened up the second half with a 12-3 run, keyed by a
Dittenbir burst, and it was 49-32 with 14:56 to go.
Vanguard’s men’s team wasn’t as fortunate as Christian Heritage
hit 10 of 15 from three-point range in the first half to take a
20-point halftime lead and rolled to a 115-93 GSAC victory.
Christian Heritage cooled off to 55.6% from the field and 50% from
three-point range in the second half, but stretched the gap to as
many as 36 points before the Lions got a 22-8 run to finish the game
22 points off the pace.
Keith Salscheider of Christian Heritage led all scorers with 30
points, hitting 11 of 15 from the field.
Christian Heritage improved to 11-7, 5-2 in the GSAC. Vanguard
fell to 5-13, 1-7.
