Chloe is a 2-year-old declawed and spayed female Calico. She’s
unhappy in her living situation among other cats and young children,
said DiAnna Pfaff-Martin, founder of the Community Animal Network in
Newport Beach.
“We see many animals that are stressed by a children under age 5
in households,” she said. “Children can be rough, loud and scare the
family pets, causing kittens and cats to hide or urinate to show
their unhappiness, and dogs may bite, causing permanent emotional and
physical scars.”
Pregnant cats are being found on the street more and more,
Pfaff-Martin said. But don’t feed stray animals, she said, “without
trapping them and getting them spayed. Call us to get a trap.”
The network is now accepting donations for the new spring program
“Spay a Stray.” It is less costly to spay an animal than pay for all
the kitten formula to raise abandoned kittens that are found in
bushes, she added. Low cost spay/neuter clinics are only $25. Call
the network for referral numbers.
