From 6 to 9 p.m. at the Esther Wells Collection at 1390 South
Coast Highway will be an artist reception for Laguna artist Jacobus
Baas and his solo new oils exhibition titled “Diversity: New Works of
California and Maine.” Famous for being one of the founding signature
members of Laguna Plein-Air painters Assn., his work is a collection
of Plein Air pieces done on location here and in Maine. For

FRIENDSHIP SHELTER’S 11TH ANNUAL FUND-RAISER
Local residents will open their homes for the 11th annual
Friendship Shelter’s “Dinners Across Laguna.” They’ll do so in
support of the programs the shelter provides to assist homeless
adults become self-sufficient and productive members of society. The
event is from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25. Tickets are $125 per

JAZZ ENSEMBLE
The award winning Laguna Beach High School Jazz Ensemble will hold
its ninth annual Blues and Jazz Festival, featuring Thelma Jones with
John Heussenstamm and the Land of Jam at 7:30 p.m. at the Artists’
Theater on 625 Park Ave. Tickets are $25 reserved, $15 general and
$10 students. Proceeds benefit Laguna Beach High School Music

HAUPT BOOK SIGNING
German born artist Joachim Haupt will be having a book signing
featuring his works at Gallery Haupt Art. The event is from 5 to 10

MARION MEYER
Marion Meyer Contemporary Art gallery and the California
Choreographers Dance Festival will present a collaborative event
featuring 9-year-old Native American Flute prodigy Evren Ozan,
choreographer and dancer Kimberly Bixler Leeds and abstract
impressionist artist Eva Carter, who will combine their talents.
Leeds will use the paintings as her inspiration for movements and
will dance to the Evren’s musical interpretation of Artist Carter’s

FREE MUSIC
Laguna College of Art and Design will resume its “First Sundays”
free music concert from 1 to 4:30 p.m., with the concert from 3 to
4:30 p.m. There will be an exhibition of students’ latest works and a
performance by Laguna Beach Live! featuring pianist Dorothy
Schechtir. The college is at 7777 Laguna Canyon Road.
PATRIOTS DAY BRUNCH
The 37th annual Laguna Beach Patriots Day Parade will host a
brunch at Tivoli Terrace at 650 Laguna Canyon Road from 11 a.m. to 1
p.m. to honor Grand Marshal retired Fire Capt. Eugene D’Isabella,
Patriot of the Year Don Black, Citizens of the Year Marilyn and Les
Thomas, and Junior Citizens Liz Nelson and Nathan Greene. Brunch is
