Pirates’ quartet collect all-conference laurels

Sophomore Jordan Joseph and freshman Jarred Balbas have been named first-team All-Orange Empire Conference by a vote of conference men’s soccer coaches.

Representing OCC on the second team were Dane Fernandez and Travis Geery..

Balbas, a forward, scored eight goals for Coach Laird Hayes’ Pirates, who finished 8-8-6, 4-6-4 in conference.

Joseph collected four goals and one assist.

Fernandez, the Pirates’ freshman goalkeeper, made 63 saves and posted a goals-against average of 1.14.

Geery, a freshman who played both midfield and defense, helped contribute to a defense that blanked opponents seven times.
