Top show dogs have their day

Top dogs took over at the Orange County Fairgrounds from the weekend through Monday, as the Shoreline Dog Fanciers Assn. of Orange County Inc. and the Malibu Kennel Club held back-to-back all-breed dog shows.

More than 1,500 dogs from more than 100 breed classes — like longhaired St. Bernards, or liver-spotted Dalmatians — strutted their stuff at the American Kennel Club-sanctioned show.

Monday’s “best in show” winner was the Affenpinscher Tamarin Tug, said Dog Fanciers show Chairwoman Peggy McDill.

McDill said the show went off just as hoped for.

“It was very successful,” she said.
