NEWPORT BEACH — Mia Butera scored four goals, including one with 23 seconds left in regulation, for the Sailors, who outscored the Knights, 3-0, in the two overtime periods Friday.
Nicolina McCall scored with one second left in the first overtime period and Katie Jackson scored two of her three goals in the second overtime period for Newport Harbor (1-1), ranked No. 1 in the CIF Southern Section Division I preseason coaches’ poll. Foothill entered ranked No. 5 in CIF Division I.
Kate Klippert led the Sailors with four steals and McCall had three. Goalie Krissy Burger recorded seven saves.

COSTA MESA — Senior guard Troy McClanahan made nine three-pointers to finish with 31 points in the Eagles’ nonleague game Friday night.
McClanahan has made 19 three-pointers in his last three games.
Kohl Jones contributed 19 points and Davon Joyner had 16 points for Estancia (4-3).

LAKE FOREST – Junior Chris Anderson scored seven points for the Sailors in a consolation game of the South County Challenge at El Toro Friday.
Newport Harbor (0-4) will finish play in the tournament today at 7:30 p.m.

CORONA DEL MAR — Freshman Jack Gorab, playing his first game at forward, scored a goal and added two assists after sitting out the first half in the nonleague home game Friday.
Michael Epstein broke a 1-1 tie in the 65th minute and freshman added an insurance goal for the winners (1-3-1).
Elliott Waniek and John Doering also had assists for CdM, for which Zak Maurer-Erickson made three saves.
Abel Benitez scored for Costa Mesa to forge a 1-1 tie early in the second half.
It was the second goal in as many games for Howe, who was called up from the junior varsity this week.

IRVINE — Senior Chaco Munoz scored three goals, including the game-winner in the pool-play opener of the Irvine Tournament Friday at Hicks Canyon Park.
Munoz converted an assist from Evan Walker to break a 3-3 tie, then added the final goal to help the Sailors improve to 2-1-1.
Walker, a senior, finished with two assists and added a goal for the winners, who received a goal from senior Innocente Tellez.
Junior defensive midfielder Dillon Freiberg also played well for the Tars, for whom Jose Hernandez made six saves.

IRVINE – Junior Nushin Tasbihchi scored on a penalty kick for the Eagles in pool play at the Irvine Team Challenge at Irvine High Friday.
Goalie Kaylee Shelley had nine saves for Estancia (1-3-1).
