UCI women’s volleyball adds four prep recruits

Four high school seniors have signed letters of intent to play women’s volleyball at UC Irvine, said Anteaters assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Sabrina Hernandez.
Taylor Smith, a 6-foot right-side hitter from Archbishop Mitty High in San Jose, is an American Volleyball Coaches Assn. second-team All-American.
Courtney Moeller, a 6-1 outside hitter from Canyon High in Anaheim was recently named a 2009 Senior Ace by PrepVolleyball.com, an honor recognizing the top seniors in the country.
Marissa Alvarez, a 5-9 setter at Sacred Heart Prep in Atherton, is another 2009 Senior Ace honoree who will join the Anteaters.
Justin Bonomi, a 5-4 libero at St. Joseph High in Lakewood, Hernandez’s alma mater, rounds out the recent signees for UCI, which has Paula Weishoff as its new coach.
