Football: Pac-5 Final Is Battle of Trinity League
- Share via
St. John Bosco has been the favorite to win the Pac-5 Division all season and Trinity League rival Mater Dei is the only team left standing in the way of the Braves’ first CIF title.
They meet at Angel Stadium in Anaheim tonight and both teams are on the field for pre-game warmups. Kickoff is 10 minutes away and fans of both teams are filing into the stands down the left field line.
The Monarchs (11-2) have won four in a row since being shut down in a 24-2 loss to St. John Bosco in the fourth week of Trinity League play. Chase Forrest has thrown for 1,818 yards and 14 touchdowns for Mater Dei and Justin Allen has rushed for over 1,000 yards.
The Braves (13-0) are powered by quarterback Josh Rosen (2,658 yards and 31 TDs), running back Sean McGrew (1,419 yards and 14 TDs) and receivers Shay Fields (17 TDs) and Jaleel Wadood (16 TDs). Their slimmest margin of victory all season is 14 points against Loyola in a nonleague game on September 20.
A victory will almost surely secure St. John Bosco a CIF Open Division regional bowl berth.
