Baseball: Chaminade opens in North Carolina with 3-1 victory

Nick Kahle hit a two-run home run and Tommy Costello made the runs hold up to help Chaminade open play on Wednesday with a 3-1 victory over Florida Flanagan at the National High School Invitational in Cary, N.C.
Blake Rutherford had two hits for the Eagles (3-2).
Costello, a Washington signee, struck out 10 and allowed seven hits.
Huntington Beach defeated New York Poly Prep, 8-5. Hagen Danner struck out seven in 5 2/3 innings. Ben McConnell had two hits. Kobie Anton got the save, coming on in the seventh with the bases loaded.
Santa Ana Mater Dei lost to Florida The First Academy, 6-5. Josh Stephen went four for four with five RBIs for Mater Dei. Stephen had two doubles and a home run.
