Cross country: Four straight state titles for Simi Valley’s Sarah Baxter

All hail Sarah Baxter of Simi Valley, the queen of cross country in California. She won her fourth consecutive state championship on Saturday and remained unbeaten in her high school cross country career in winning the Division II race in 16:43 at Woodward Park in Fresno. She helped Simi Valley win the team title.
In Division I girls, Great Oak took the title. Palisades’ Marissa Williams finished second in the Division I race, running 17:04. In Division III, Bethan Knights of Irvine Northwood won in 17:08.
In Division I boys, Arcadia took the team title. Estavan De La Rosa finished second in 15:03.
In Division II boys, Garrett Corcoran of Villa Park won the individual title in 15:09. Saugus won the team title. In Division III, Aidan Goltra of Campolindo edged Indio’s David Luna and Brea Olinda’s Austin Tamagno, 15:02 to 15:03 in a wild finish. In Division IV, Caleb Webb of Big Bear took first place in 15:15.
