Chad Johnson and wife Eva Lozada will no longer be featured in their own reality TV show following Johnson’s arrest Saturday on suspicion of head-butting Lozada.
Johnson, a six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver who formerly went by the name Chad Ochocinco, was to appear with Lozada in the upcoming VH1 series “Ev and Ocho,” which was going to follow the lives of the couple, including their recent wedding.
VH1 issued this statement on its website: “Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series ‘Ev and Ocho’ from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it.”
Johnson was arrested Saturday on suspicion of domestic battery after an argument with Lozada about a receipt for condoms she found in the car trunk. He was released from jail on $2,500 bond Sunday.
On Sunday Johnson was released by the Miami Dolphins. Coach Joe Philbin said the move was not based on any single incident but that the receiver and the team were just a bad fit.
Lozada is a star of another VH1 reality show, “Basketball Wives.”
