Lamar Odom may face review by director of NBA anti-drug program

Lamar Odom will be required to submit to a mandatory evaluation by the director of the NBA’s anti-drug program if the veteran free agent is convicted of driving under the influence, according to terms of the league’s collective bargaining agreement.
Odom could then be required to attend as many as 10 substance abuse counseling sessions.
Odom was arrested early Friday morning after a California Highway Patrol officer spotted him driving erratically on the 101 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley.
Odom, 33, spent about 3 1/2 hours in jail and was released after posting $15,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Van Nuys Municipal Court on Sept. 27.
Odom also faces the suspension of his license for one year because he refused to submit to chemical testing at a police station.
In 2001, Odom admitted using marijuana after the NBA suspended him for violating its anti-drug program twice in eight months.
