Opening night at ‘Minsky’s’ didn’t attract the ‘regulars’ to the Ahmanson Theatre on Friday night.
Scattered around the auditorium were a few current and former ‘Saturday Night Live’ members, there to cheer on alum Rachel Dratch, who plays Beula in the musical about a burlesque house struggling to stay open in 1930s New York.
Making a grand entrance was a very well-known pop singer. (We’ll give you a clue: He writes the songs that make the whole world sing.) We also found three actors who appeared on Broadway as Man in Chair in ‘The Drowsy Chaperone,’ whose creators are behind ‘Minsky’s.’ Even a few former showgirls stopped in to share some memories.
Check out the photos on the jump. And come back to Culture Monster on Monday for a roundup of what the critics had to say about ‘Minsky’s.’
