REPORTING FROM JERUSALEM –- An Israeli air strike on a group of Palestinian militants in the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah on Saturday left five people dead and five more wounded, according to Palestinian sources.
A spokesman for the militant Islamic Jihad organization said two missiles hit a training base used by its military wing, Saraya al-Quds, west of Rafah, killing five, including senior members of the organization.
He said among the dead was Ahmad Sheikh Khalil, head of the engineering and manufacturing unit in Saraya al-Quds, which is responsible for firing missiles at Israel.
Israeli media quoted Israeli army sources as saying that the strike targeted an Islamic Jihad cell that was responsible for firing a grad missile at southern Israel last week.
The Islamic Jihad vowed to take revenge for the attack saying the attack “will not pass without punishment.”
