An October opening is scheduled for Citicorp Center, the first of three office towers planned for the $650-million, 7.9-acre Citicorp Plaza project at 7th and Figueroa streets in downtown Los Angeles, according to a spokesman for Oxford-Prudential Joint Venture, the developers.
The first phase of Citicorp Plaza will also include a three-level retail mall anchored by Bullocks and May Co. department stores. A spring, 1986 opening is scheduled for the retail facility, where leasing has reached the halfway point.
Citicorp Center will serve as Western division headquarters of Citicorp, which owns an equity position in the first phase. Another equity-owner/tenant is Lillick McHose & Charles, a Los Angeles law firm. Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. is another tenant in the 42-story structure, topped out last month.
One of the largest projects of its kind under construction in the nation, Citicorp Plaza will add more than three million square feet of office and retail space to the downtown inventory.
Oxford Properties Inc., handling leasing, and Prudential Insurance Co. of America are the joint venture partners.
