An Orange County Jail inmate was stabbed with a jail-issued razor blade) by a cell mate on the Santa Ana facility’s medical floor, a sheriff’s spokesman said Thursday.
The wounded prisoner, Daniel Earl McBee, 34, was in fair condition Thursday at UCI Medical Center’s jail ward. Sheriff’s Lt. Dick Olson said McBee, an Anaheim resident who was arrested Monday on suspicion of trespassing, suffered lacerations to his arms, legs and chest.
Inmate Dennis Ray Wellington, 22, allegedly attacked McBee with the blade about 6 p.m. Wednesday, Olson said. Deputies near the cell rescued McBee. Wellington was arrested April 3 on a warrant charging him with burglary, according to Olson. The reason for the attack is not known, he said.
Investigators will seek charges against Wellington, Olson said.
