The State : 2 Arrested in Theft of Treasury Checks

Two men have been arrested in San Francisco in connection with the theft of an estimated $15 million worth of U.S. Treasury checks. The two were identified as Reynoldo Cuevas, 45, an Oakland car salesman, and Antonio Velasquez, 48, a public school custodian from San Francisco. Authorities said that the two men, both natives of the Philippines, are part of a global ring believed to be responsible for stealing about 30,000 checks, including Social Security payments, from the San Francisco International Airport mail facility and post offices during the last 30 months.
