Mideast Hijacking

Hooray, the hostages are free! But now rather than talk of revenge or reprisals, it’s time to review our Middle East policy. The taking of Americans as hostages was not a random event.
Our pouring of billions and billions of U.S. tax dollars into Israel has allowed Israel to build itself into a major military power. It is obvious that many Arabs view this lopsided support by the United States as aiding and abetting Israel’s current aggressive behavior. As long as our Middle East policy remains so lopsided, ordinary Americans will be at risk of such “terrorist” activities.
The best anti-terrorist action the United States could take is a more balanced and evenhanded role in the Middle East.
