Tawnya Marie Blacktooth, 14, of Escondido, died at 4 a.m. Monday in Palomar Memorial Hospital, where she was being treated for chest and head injuries. She was struck by a car while crossing the East El Norte Parkway on Friday.
The driver, Frank Van Buskerk, of Escondido, was booked into San Diego County Jail in Vista on a felony charge of drunk driving, the spokesman said. He also said that Tawnya’s brother, Lawrence Blacktooth, died as a result of being hit by a drunk driver in January.
