Long Beach Beats USD in Volleyball

Karen Bonokoski had 14 kills and Stacy Peeples added six to lead the Cal State Long Beach women’s volleyball team to a 15-10, 15-6, 15-2 win over the University of San Diego at the USD Sports Center Saturday night.
Bonokoski, a middle blocker, made 14 of 18 hits. Outside hitter Patty Hertz paced Long Beach with five blocks. Gina Traplatti had eight kills for the Toreras, who have nine freshmen on their 14-woman squad.
The win evens Long Beach’s record at 1-1. USD, which lost to San Diego State Friday night, is 0-2.
